On April 17th, a representative from CAFOD arrived at St Thomas More RC College to work with the GIFT chaplaincy Team to help them develop an understanding of Pope Francis’ Laudato Si.

The encyclical, Laudato Si', is a profound invitation to everyone on the planet to care for our common home. In this letter, Pope Francis calls on us to take good care of creation - a gift freely given - cultivating and protecting it for future generations.

Monica, who is a volunteer at CAFOD, spoke passionately about the importance of the good work that CAFOD does in this key area. Furthermore, she explained how our stewardship roles will help to put our faith into action. Monica set the team a challenging task; they were given a £10,000 budget and they were presented with a variety of projects supported by CAFOD that they could choose to support. The purpose of the task was to illustrate to the students the impact of fundraising and the effect the money we raise has on global communities.
